Our arrangement in Baliem Valley will take you to comprehend the local daily life of the so called prehistoric peoples. Trekking along the riverbank, walk along the hilly terrain, crosing the river through the one single log bridge, meet the local peoples either in their garden or in the local house, and one of the most interesteing thing is, to stay with the local family in the honai house.

The landscape is so amazing, the local peoples are friendly and warm hearted peoples. Hilly and flat terrain with the beatiful sweet potatoe garden formation, small villages and flowing fresh water river are all the way we are passing through.

Moreover, we will also organize through the local tribe head a war attraction and steam pit cooking. These two attraction are among the main things the Dani anchestor did in the past.

Tribal war was common use as the final way to solve a tribal problem among the tribes. A small problem like a stolen pig can cause a big war which involved the whole men in the village. Each of the warrior will come with their spears, arch and bow. While the body will be fully decorated with instant tattoo and the best head and arm ornaments they have. A war will be ended till one side of them got surrended. But it does not mean that it is the end of the war, the looser will take revenge not so long after.

Dani tribemen way of cooking is another interesting thing to learn. They know no species, the only species they have is salt which is extracted from the salt spring up in the high hill. Sweet potetoe is the main foodstaple. Sometimes the sweet potatoes are supplemented with some grass (vegetables) or flesh from the hunted animals, or pork.

All those items are cooked together on the heated stone in the so called steam pit stove. Food provisions are cooked on the stones, not on the fire.

How to Get There
To do this trip, firstly we must fly to Jayapura, the capital of Irian Jaya. and then we proceed with the pioneer flights to Wamena, the capital town in Baliem Valley and start the tour.

DAY 01: BALI - JAYAPURA ARRIVAL
Upon arrival at Jayapura Airport in the morning time, you will be met by our local staff and transferred to the hotel in Jayapura for your accommodation. Rest of the day is free for rest and relax after the evening long flight from Makassar. lunch and dinner at local restaurant (L,D).

DAY 02: JAYAPURA - WAMENA
After breakfast transfer to the airport for flight to Wamena, the capital town of Baliem Valley. On arrive at Wamena airport, transfer to your hotel, then proceed to visiting Napua hill & Sinatma village, drive down to the town for having lunch. continue to Wesaput village to see the hanging bridge, local market and surrounding. Back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay (B,L,D).

DAY 03: TREKKING ALONG BALIEM RIVER / SOGOKMO - KURIMA - WAMENA
After having breakfast, you will be transferred by car within 35 minutes to Sogokmo in the South of Baliem valley. Then start to have a day trek for about 4-5 hours to Wesaput passing thru Dani sweet potatoes gardens and cross hanging bridge over Baliem river. Along the trail you will see the local people activities and enjoy the beauty scenery as well. lunch box will be provided enroute. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel (B,L,D).

DAY 04: WAMENA - JIWIKA (Pig feast & dance) - WAMENA
After breakfast, drive 30 minutes to Jiwika in the North of Baliem valley to see the 250 years old Mummy. Then walk 10 minutes to village of Anemoigi where you can view the Dani Mock battle and Pig feast. You will see how the Dani make fire traditionally, kill a pig with bow and arrow and cook them into the hot-burned stone with vegetables and sweet potatoes. Afternoon return to hotel (B,L,D).

DAY 05: WAMENA - JAYAPURA
After breakfast at hotel, transfer to Wamena airport for your flight back to Jayapura. Arrival at airport of Jayapura You may have a full day sightseeing tour to visit; Mac Arthur World War II monument, Sentani lake. lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, continued to visit the Anthropology museum, Hamadi market and Jayapura city. Afternoon drive back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay (B,l,D).

DAY 06: JAYAPURA - BALI
After breakfast, transfer to airport for your flight to Jakarta or Bali (B).
