TANDJUNG SARI HOTEL

Tandjung Sari is a precious original. One of Bali's best-kept secret, the Tandjung Sari was opened in 1962 as a four-bungalow extension to his family home by Indonesian proprietor "Wija Wawo Runtu".

Today's 29-bungalowTandjung Sari, set in luxuriant tropical garden s on Bali's elegant Sanur Beach, retains the exclusive ambience of a private family retreat. At the helm right now is Wija's son, Agus.

From the moment the ceremonial welcome gong is struck to herald his arrival, the guest at Tanjung Sari enter a tranquil sanctum watched over by almost 100 discreet Indonesian staff dedicated to his personal comfort.

Every Tandjung Sari bungalows is as individual and special as the guests themselves. Each Balinese style unit has its own private garden, some the sensual freedom of an open-air shower.

All provide top quality modern conveniences from air-conditioning, king and queen-size beds, baths and bidets, to telephones with International Direct Dialing facilities, refrigerators and hair driers.

Fine Indonesian cuisine and the sunny courtesy of Balinese service at the Hotel's beach-side restaurant and Bar round off the Tandjung Sari experience.

The separate bungalows were build in native style and set in opulent gardens. Among them were discreetly placed small stone temples with the traditional pagoda shape and black thatch roof. Statues of gods and goddesses appeared in niches.

The room with its split bamboo walls, mats rafts, poles tied together with bark fiber, gave of vibrations which I can only describe as similar to those one feels in a forest , as if Natural materials never lost their power to conduct life . It had the quality of refuge which so few hotel rooms have..."
