The Course

The Absolutely Green in the lush high heartland of Bali at an alitude of 1.142 meters above the sea level which surrounded by rolling mountain, crater lakes and ancient forest, the course design is meant to blend the fairways and create a dramatic backdrop for tea shots and approaches . The deep blue sky, the air fresh, clear and the temperature average between 14 - 20 celcius degrees. It is rights comfortable golfing destination in Bali.

Bali Handara Kosaido Country Club is one of the greatest golf course in the world. This 18 holes, 72 par championship course is masterfully designed by famous international golfer and course architect Peter Thompson, Michael Wolveridge and associates in 1974.

At 7.024 yards, colorful flowers and many we placed flamboyan trees add splashes of red to the greens and blues. Golfers can hone their game nearby at the 250 yards driving range or the practice bunkers, chiping and putting green. Nestled in the discerning golfer. Surrounded by tropical forest, and with commanding views of the nearby lake, around at Bali Handara is one of the highlights of a Bali Holiday.

The 450-yard, par 4, 3rd doglegs left, its fairway being divided by a stream that rushes off the mountain behind. The stream winds its way along the right of the first fairway, cutting it off from the shorter second fairway, offset to the right. The second shot must carry across the water to the long green far beyond.

The 15th, a par 5 of 500 yards, is both demanding and memorable. A bunker sitting right in the heart of the fairway. One of the few sandtraps on the course that confounds reckless tee shots. It is not easy to conquer this one in two shots. However, big hitters may manage the distance.

Opening in 1974, Bali Handara was masterfully designed by international golfing architect Peter Thompson. It was the first 18-hole course in Bali to capture the tourist market and cater for domestic businessmen.

In 1981, Golf Magazine named it as 'One of the 50 Greatest Holes in the World' and since then it has enjoyed a reputation of being a panoramic green. The 100-hectare course is fairly demanding with the longest green in Bali.

It boasts a remarkable variety of trees and plants and has a stunning view of the mystical Bunyan Lake. The clear scenery and mountain backdrop creates a relaxed environment and players don't seem overly taxed by the course or its conditions.

The last three holes are especially difficult to finish and are where many players face their downfall in the game.

Back in 1995 Japanese famous female golfer, Ms Ayoko Okamoto, enjoyed a game at Bali Handara while taking a break from the professional circuit.

Recently Bali Handara Kosaido has become involved in charitiable activities and in June participated in a program with the Botanical Gardens in Bedugul to make a day trip for a group of orphans. The next major event on Bali Handara's calendar is the 15'h Senior Open Tournament covering three days in October with all players over the age of 55 years.
